Tucked away in a quiet timeless corner near Nong Lin Xia Road, Wilber's speaks louder than its serene outward appearance. For here, in the heart of the city, is a beautiful old house newly renovated into a relaxed restaurant and bar that patrons will come back to again and again.

Spread over three floors (one of which is fully non-smoking), Wilber's has intimate rooms, open areas, a roof terrace and an outside patio. The owner's obsession with the music of Stephen Sondheim and Barbara Streisand are visible from reading their lyrics written all over the walls.

For the food they kept things simple, preferring a smaller western food menu with an attention on quality and consistency. Wilber's selection of soups and salads are all accompanied by their signature freshly-baked bread. For a lighter meal there is a range of pasta dishes (fried sole fillet with creamy squid ink spaghetti, prosciutto & olive spaghetti) and for those with a healthy appetite a selection of larger main courses (slow cooked lamb shank with rum & cranberry topped with mint sauce, baked cod with filo pastry & garden vegetables). The desserts at Wilber's are already getting a reputation: lemon meringue pie, chocolate mousse, cheese cake.

At Wilber's you won't be confused with pages of wines but a single page of carefully chosen quality wine at affordable prices. One should not miss their house wine from Argentina, Wilber's Shiraz, which can easily be rated as the best representative from the new world.

On the ground floor overlooking the patio, the bar is the perfect place for a pre or post-dinner drink. As the diners leave, the staff will turn up the music and turn down the lights and welcome a whole new crowd. Their specially developed includes an extensive Martini list along with some new creations like Wasabi Margarita or a Green Tea Martini. That's PRD recently commented that the investors and managers behind Wilber's wish to create a "culture" and so it's easy to remain behind for their well-priced drinks, including what could be the city's best martini menu.
